Fitness trainer, Shaun T reveals secret to motivating people

In this episode of the SweatCast, I had the pleasure of interviewing fitness legend and former Men's Health cover guy Shaun T.

Shaun is the creator of many popular Beachbody DVD programs including the best-selling Insanity workout, which has helped millions of people all over the world lose weight and get back in shape. Shaun is also an incredible motivator and an accomplished choreographer.

The biggest thing I took away from this episode was how important it is to be authentic with what you do. The reason Shaun is a global icon is not just because of how talented he is or how good he looks. It's because he's so genuine in how he delivers his message and because of how relatable he is to his followers.

Where most fitness pros only post photos of their "healthy" chicken and broccoli meals, Shaun posts when he splurges on M&M's. And instead of flooding your feed with non-stop model shots, Shaun shares selfies of him waking up at the butt-crack of dawn, wiping the sleep out of his eyes to get ready for another long day of inspiring people all over the world to dig deeper and make a change. Shaun is real and he makes you feel like he's just like you.

Shaun also talks about his upcoming Rodale book, T Is For Transformation: A 7-Step Program for Digging Deeper, Feeling Stronger, and Living Smarter. It hits book shelves everywhere in November and you can pre-order it on Amazon today.

Other topics we cover in the podcast include:

  • How and when Shaun got his first big break
  • What it was like to dance with Mariah Carey and play tennis with Serena Williams
  • The story behind the best-selling Insanity DVD
  • The secret to losing weight and keeping it off
  • And much more!

Listen to the full episode on iTunes and SoundCloud. And be sure to subscribe to the Men's Health SweatCast as we post a new episode every week!
