It's the battle of the airlines these days as various carriers attempt to out-do each other with in-flight entertainment.

Just when we were still drooling over Virgin Airways'new luxury business class cabin, United Airlines has also joined suit in releasing photos of their all-new business class cabin.

Called Polaroid, United Airlines describes the new business class cabin as an "experience" which is “the airline’s most significant product transformation in more than a decade.”

The new design features suite-like pods that offer easy access to the aisle, lie-flat seats with up to 6’6” of bed space, mood lighting, lumbar support, storage areas and more.

Speaking on the new cabin, Oscar Munoz, president and CEO of United said “United Polaris will change the game in international business travel with an exceptional level of relaxation and comfort throughout our customers’ journeys”

The airline added in a statement that it "conducted more than 12,000 hours of research, and sleep emerged as the single most important priority for international business class travelers,”

To this end, there is in-cabin mood lighting, plenty of room to sleep, new blankets, pillows, pajamas and slippers.

The move is clearly an attempt to put United's premium offerings on par with the best in the world, namely Gulf carriers, and win back premium fliers.

To complement the business seat offerings, United is also opening nine premium lounges around the world, with “custom-designed chairs, private daybeds, spa-like showers and chef-inspired hot meals.”

The seats will debut on the airline's 777-300ER in December while the first business class lounge will open at Chicago O'Hare on December 1st, 2016.

Last week, news made round that United Airlines was suspending its Lagos-Houston route from June 30th owing to lack of demand.
