It's the stuff a Hollywood comedy blockbuster is made of - the lead character is in the middle of a fun vacation, trying to feed an elephant with bananas and from nowhere, the elephant grabs said vacationer's camera and takes an epic photo.

That's exactly what happened to 22-year Canadian, Christian LeBlanc from Vancouver, British Columbia who was recently on vacation to Thailand when he had his phone 'hijacked' by an elephant while feeding it.

According to a message he sent to CNN,

"My girlfriend and I were exploring the island when we came across a couple elephants, for 50 cents, you could buy a basket of bananas to feed them, so we decided to get one."

He decided to feed the elephant with the bananas and that's when things got interesting pretty quickly, according to LeBlanc,

"Next thing I knew, it grabbed my by the mount and I got the selfie of a lifetime, which I can't take full credit for,"

LeBlanc's GoPro, a mountable sports camera, was set to shoot continuously, so it captured the view from the elephant's trunk, although he speculates that the shots could have been a deliberate action by the elephant.

"Elephants are incredibly intelligent, and it definitely makes you wonder if it was a conscious action. Its personality was very playful and it clearly had a craving for bananas because it devoured them"  he said.

Although the photo was taken on the island of Koh Phangan about 2 months ago, it has only recently started to gain prominence in the international media.

Meanwhile, LeBlanc has continued with his travels through Asia and has already captured another “epic” selfie - this time with the world’s largest fish, the whale shark!
