Which colours are the riskiest? The carrier lists three that are very popular with passengers.

One of the key elements of planning a trip is packing your luggage. Without a properly packed suitcase, your long-awaited vacation can quickly turn into a nightmare.

Almost every traveller is aware of the risk of losing their luggage, but few realise that certain mistakes related to choosing a suitcase can increase this risk. Ryanair has issued a warning that may surprise many travellers. It is worth paying attention to the colour of your travel suitcase - not all are equally safe.

Grey, blue and black suitcases are the most popular choices among passengers. You might think these are safe, universal colours, but Ryanair warns that these colours can cause your luggage to be lost. Why? Because of their popularity. These colours make it difficult for passengers to identify their luggage on the baggage belt. As a result, your suitcase may be stolen or mistaken for another.

Ryanair, as quoted by The Sun, advises passengers to avoid these popular colours or add a unique element to their luggage to help it stand out from the rest. “This will make it easier to spot your checked luggage on the baggage belt, especially if it is black, navy or grey. Add a coloured tag or ribbon to the handle of your luggage to avoid confusion on arrival,” the carrier advises.

Stefan Schulte, head of Frankfurt Airport, goes a step further, warning against black suitcases in particular. "Many people travel with black suitcases on wheels, which makes identifying them very time-consuming," he explains.
