Want to escape the Lagos chaos and struggle but on a budget?

Lagos may be notoriously expensive, but it doesn't have to be for you.

1. Admire the view from Lekki - Ikoyi link bridge

Take a stroll across the Lekki - Ikoyi link bridge for nothing. With separate lanes for vehicles and pedestrians, the bridge is the best spot in the city for a view across the ocean.

It also makes for a romantic Valentine's Day or date spot, one that won't break the bank and is pretty unique.

2. Catch a show at Freedom park for nothing

Make sure you check out Freedom park. The park features music, dance and theatre. With the exception of a few benefit concerts, all these events are free, spanning the whole year. Freedom Park is always a great budget Lagos attraction, with gorgeous flower gardens and active nightlife.

3. Let loose at the new Afrikan Shrine

Arguably one of the most famous places to visit in Lagos, the new Afrikan shrine plays host to almost everyone.

Go shake it like its hot and you might just catch Femi Kuti doing his thing on the stage.

4. Browse art pieces at the Nike art gallery

It's one of the must-see galleries in Lagos that charge nothing. The building is lined with a selection of exhibition spaces for all types of art, from sculpture to short film and many of them are completely free to view. Fees are usually waived during the day, allowing guests access to the gallery’s collections.

5. Be a bookworm at a public library

Get away from the chaos and duck into one of Lagos public libraries. Explore their collections of books, DVDs and photography exhibitions.

Many libraries also have computers for free public use.
