According to a Michigan State University study, living in a location where you have access to view and visit a lot of blue spaces, like bodies of water, leads to lower levels of ‘psychological distress’.

Here is a list of five relaxing African island destinations you should consider vacationing in:

1. Cape Verde:

Located off the coast of West Africa, Cape Verde offers kite and wind surfing, snorkeling, rich island cuisine and of course white, picturesque beaches to name a few. The country is also visa-free for Nigerians.

2. Zanzibar:

A holiday to Zanzibar can offer the best of a dual experience - you can start off with a day or two exploring Tanzania's capital city, Dar es Salam before jetting off to Zanzibar, off the coast of the Indian Ocean.

Zanzibar offers all the perks of an island destination - tasty sea food, great cocktails and a handful of exciting activities.

3. Seychelles:

Friends and family can enjoy a fun holiday here with activities such as hiking, swimming, snorkeling and going on organised tours through the island.

Seychelles is home to Anse Lazio, Praslin Island which is placed 4th on TripAdvisor's list of best beaches in the world.
