The African city beat out other hot favourites like Paris and New York to claim 3rd place on TripAdvisor's world's most beloved cities.

With the increasing tourism potential in Africa, it's safe to say that the continent can give it's counterparts a run for their money as Marrakech, Morocco emerged the 3rd most loved travel spot in the world.

The African city beat out other hot favourites like Paris and New York to claim 3rd place on TripAdvisor's world's most beloved cities.

Leading travel review website, TripAdvisor scoured millions of user reviews over the course of a year to select its Travelers' Choice winners for the world's top destinations.

According to TripAdvisor's chief marketing officer, Barbara Messing, "for those planning a summer vacation, now is a great time to plan a trip to one of these popular destinations where hotels are bookable on TripAdvisor for an average of $200 per night from June through August"

Marrakech is the 4th largest city in Morocco and is one of the busiest cities in Africa serving as a major economic centre and tourist destination.

The city is particularly popular with the French, and numerous French celebrities own property there.
