Road trips are fun but can go awry if you don't have a little planning mixed somewhere in all the spontaneity.

There are very many apps that offer travel advice and help, so many that you might get confused trying to decide on which to use.

You have to try the following apps before you hit the road.

1. Waze: This is a community-based travel and navigation app that allows its users to share and receive information on traffic conditions in real time.

6. Glympse: This is a location sharing app that lets you easily coordinate meeting up with friends and family.

You can share from the moment you begin your trip, with your friends and/or family receiving regular updates as your journey progresses in real time.

When you get to your destination, the app stops sharing your location and the updates expire. Glympse gives you complete control over who is allowed to see your location and you can time how long you want them to see it.
