Here are 3 more places to add to your list this summer:
Lake Windermere, Cumbria.
Swimming is allowed in most of the Lake districts lakes but Windermere, wich is the largest natural lake in the country at ten and a half miles long, is one of the most spectacular. Nearby Ambleside or Lakeside are very good bases to stay.
Llyn Idwal, Snowdonia.
You’ll need to be very strong to brave the icy depths of this lake but it’s totally worth it – the views from the crystal clear water are completely stunning. The Pebble Beach at the northwestern side offers the easiest access.
Hampstead Ponds, London.
Hampstead Heath in London boasts a series of wonderfully refreshing ponds that offer men’s, women’s and mixed bathing. The men’s and women’s ponds are the only life-guarded open water swimming facilities open to the public every day of the year.
