It can be said that most online mobile sharing, video sharing apps or photo editing apps have a made it a norm to include ranges of sepia tones in their features.
Some of the sepia tones popularly used on mobiles includes 'vintage,' 'Black and white,' 'Latte,' 'Litho' etc.
Below are 3 reasons why humans love sepia photography
1. Beautiful and Calm
Sepia photographs always adds a touch of perfection by accentuating the model's (person in the photograph) features, gives a smooth and glowing skin, makes the photo look calm and adds a lasting touch of beauty.
This, I believe is why historical romance novels always describes its characters as beautiful as the rising Sun. Because the rising sun has a sepia effect too.
Food for Thought: Have you ever seen anyone that looks ugly in black and white photos?
2. Classic and Vintage
Sepia images have a throwback feel, it suggests to the viewer that the image might have been shot in 60s or 70s were ladies wore royal dresses and men dressed like Jidenna.
3. Value
If an image is all of the above (1 and 2), it is only logical that it is valuable, imagine if a photographer portrays an African slave in a photograph, it will most likely come in a sepia form.
