Following an Airbus delivery delay, Qatar Airways has announced that it is delaying its latest contender for the title of "world's longest flight".
Middle-Eastern airline delays bid for longest flight in the world
The 18.5-hour flight from Doha, Qatar to Auckland, New Zealand was scheduled to begin operations December 3rd of this year but was pushed to early 2017 owing to the Airbus delayed delivery.

The Doha-Auckland route will be operated with Boeing 777-LRs, and until Qatar gets the A350s from Airbus, the 777s are needed for service on other routes.
Earlier this year, Airbus has announced deliveries of the A350 would be delayed for both Qatar and Cathay Pacific.
Emirates currently holds the record for longest flight with its 8,819-mile flight from Auckland, New Zealand, to Dubai, UAE.

Singapore Airlines, with a 19-hour, 9,521 mile flight from Singapore to New York, and Qantas with an 18-hour, 8,991 mile journey from Perth, Australia, to London are all in contention for the longest flight title holder.
