Pulse Blogger Love over pizza

A good amount of the succulent delicacy had already made its way past her red dripping lipstick and under her incisors. Suddenly, her eyes roamed around the Pizza parlour, and caught him drooling.

I want to share my lunch with you today.

That day, she made sure she called them ten minutes ahead of time. She made it clear that she had little time to wait.

After five minutes, a pan of hot sizzling freshly baked pizza made its way to her table. Her face lit with a wide smile as she welcomed the aromatic sensation with open arms. The waiter made his way through the tables and dropped off her order right on her table. It was time to devour the heavenly.

The sweet aroma which hit her nostrils watered her mouth and filled her empty belly. The slim hand gently reached out and grabbed a piece; it came off gradually, forming tiny lines, with white-reddish ropes of melted cheese. The hot slice of fresh chicken pizza with tomato toppings, green pepper and sliced onions religiously made its way into her wide gapped mouth, like a sacrifice about to be consumed. Thomas punched ‘enter’ and gave out a sigh of relief: he just sent the last mail before lunch. He was barely a month at the office where he was expected to act as a liaison officer between their client and the firm. He never knew he would get the job: he always believed that women were luckier to get such positions than men. He was already finding it difficult to deal with the company’s male clients, who readily gave him a tired stare each time he came around. It was too obvious that they wanted something else: a chat over lunch or dinner with a sassy lady.

Thomas raised his head and found her office empty. The office of the PA to the chairman was enclosed in glass; everyone could see her, especially those slim straight legs. He wondered where she sneaked out to --ten minutes before lunch time. Surprisingly, the boss never called for her until she comes back, smiling from ear to ear.

A thousand imaginations went through Thomas’s head: he knew that the lady looked too beautiful for one man; there must be a million of them. He wondered what number he stands a chance to get if ever he decided to queue up. He looked around the office, and wondered if he was the only one that thought in the same line of direction.

Obviously no, he saw the look other male colleagues gave her whenever she walked pass. The jealousy in the eyes of other ladies burned like blazing flame.

Thomas’s stomach suddenly churned and growled: he too needed to get a bite to eat. He shut down his system, picked up his wallet and locked his cubicle –he didn’t trust anyone not to be snooping around. Thomas went over to Abiola’s cubicle. Both men came for the same interview together and got the job, and since then, they have been good friends.

Abiola was busy typing something on his system; he didn’t like the fact that Thomas distracted him and he didn’t hide the angry look on his face.

“Thomas, can’t a man type in peace in this office?”

Thomas gave him a sly smile. He knew that his friend was always overzealous with his job.

“Hmmm. Na your papa work? Come make we go put something for belle.”

What he said made Abiola throw his head back for a good laugh.

“Jor, dey go. I dey come.”

Thomas smiled and turned to be on his way, but Abiola called him back.

“Come, come. I no sure if I fit finish this report. Come buy food for me.”

He reached into his pocket and brought out some money, and then stretched out his hand to Thomas. Thomas gave him a wide smile and said:

“No mind, I go buy your usual.”

He turned again to leave and Abiola taunted him:

“Hah! Generous bros, tualeh!”

Thomas didn’t allow Abiola to finish before he shouted and said:

“No forget, n’ you go pay our bus money.”

Abiola couldn’t control his himself. He fell back on his chair laughing. He knew Thomas better.

Thomas made his way through the busy cubicles and out through the door of the office.

The street was as busy as ever: other workers came out to have their lunch before they rushed back to work. Thomas constantly checked the time as he made his way through the shops and restaurants located on the street of the office. He had already passed a particular restaurant when he noticed that his eyes had caught something familiar.

He moved back, and behold, through the glass window, his eyes zeroed in on the Chairman’s Personal Assistant. He suddenly forgot all about his empty stomach and just stood transfixed on the spot. His mouth flew open and the whole saliva in his mouth nearly formed a river. His eyes had caught Christy in the act of devouring a succulent looking pizza with so many toppings that, he felt that she was about to commit a crime or an unforgivable sin.

It was when the Pizza found its way into her mouth that their eyes locked. For some split seconds, time stood still. Thomas didn’t know how his legs turned out to function all of a sudden and they hurriedly carried him away.

An Assignment

Thomas was about to leave for break when he heard his name. He turned and found his supervisor beckoning on him from the door of his office. He strolled towards him and entered his office.

“Here, look at this client. He needs to know our latest product and what we can offer him. It is important that you do it right this minute before our competitors get to him.”

Thomas couldn’t believe his ears: he had been working since morning and it was break-time and he was sending him out. He knew he needed the confirmation as badly as anything.

“Yes, Sir.”

Thomas took the file and left the office. He went down the elevator, into his car and drove towards the client’s office.

A Good Surprise

Thomas busily unlocked his cubicle when someone came and stood very close to his back. He was back from the meeting, and prayed that it was not another assignment: he was very hungry. He slowly turned and behold, Christy smiled from ear to ear, and stretched out her hand towards him. He looked at what she offered and to his utmost surprise; it was a pan of Pizza.

She said:

“I want to share my lunch with you today.”

Thomas smiled, not only was he hungry, but she was one of the faces that brightened his day. He gently opened the door and she stepped in, to the awe of snoopy onlookers.
