The ice cream is organic, and unlike regular frozen ice cream, it can be crumbled. However once start to eat it, it becomes the regular ice cream you know.
The recipe simply makes use of freeze-dried regular ice cream and dehydrates it, adding nothing but a pinch of salt.

Freeze-drying is a process that involves freezing a food substance, then adding heat to draw out the frozen liquid out of the food after creating a powerful vacuum.
The Gastronaut ice cream range currently has three flavours; Mexican Chocolate Chip, Cookies and Cream and Mint Chocolate Chip.
According to Rob Collignon, the owner of Gastronaut Foods, "This is the only premium organic freeze-dried ice cream on the planet."
The name 'Gastronaut Ice Cream' comes from a combination of the word gastronomy, the art of cooking and eating fine food and the original name for freeze-dried ice cream, astronaut ice cream'.
