The Easter break is upon us, and we can hear workers across Nigeria heave a collective sigh of relief at the prospect of 4 work-free days.

So how does one avoid this feeling of discontent at the end of a holiday?

These 5 useful steps will help

1. Plan ahead: The key to enjoying a short weekend is planning. Map out your itinerary ahead of time - do you plan to travel out of town? Where and whom do you plan to visit? Would you rather a quiet stay indoors or be out and about? These are some of the key things you should have sorted ahead of time, so when the holidays come, you're not taken unawares, scattered and all over the place.

2. Start the holiday early: To create an illusion of a truly long and fulfilled holiday, start early. If you plan to travel out of town, leave on the last working day which would be Thursday in this case, or do something fun that evening if you'd rather an activity-filled break. Also, if you want a quiet holiday, ensure you get back from work early enough and begin your rest . Either way, the earlier you kick off your holiday, the better you'll have it. Leaving things undone till the last minute will only have you feeling scattered and unfulfilled at the end of the day.

3. Try something different: Is there a spot you've always wanted to visit, or a new recipe you've always wanted to try or even a friend you've been putting off seeing? Do something out of your normal schedule. This way, you'll have something nice and interesting to look back on when you resume.

4. Dedicate a day for resting: Preferably closer to the end of the holiday so you don't feel spent, leave a day where you do nothing but rest and recharge your batteries ahead of resumption.
