The anticipated African Fashion International (AFI) organized Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa 2014 is set to kick off on 29th October- 1st November, with a total of 16 shows over a period of four days. The event is set for Melrose Arch, Johannesburg where African designers will be presenting their various collections.
The lineup include an impressive list of designers from all over Africa; Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Mozambique, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ghana, Tanzania and Cote d’Ivoire who will be showcasing guided by this year's theme: Our Heritage Reimagined.
Sizwe Nzimande, AFI Group Marketing Manager, reveals; “This year, we celebrate how far African fashion has come by bringing together the best design talent from the continent and its diaspora, who are both rooted in their African identity and reinterpreting it in an internationally relevant way. This will be powerfully reflected in the eclecticism, originality and spontaneity of all the collections on display,”.
