The Lagos Fashion and Design Week took place at the Federal Palace Hotel & Casinos from October 28th to 31st, 2015. We brought you all the scoop from the street style to the runway collections from all of your favorite designers and celebrities.
2-Day Business series: What you missed
However, an important aspect of the four day event was the two day business series which took place on the 29th and 30th of October and it was a great benefit to all who attended.
The four day event saw some of your favorite designers, which included an incredible and notable designers such as Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi, Tsemaye Binitie, Iamisigo, Eki Orleans, Orange Culture,April by Kunbi, Ade Bakare and many more.
This year’s sponsors, which included, Sterling Bank, Bank of Industry and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), made notable promises to uphold the fashion industry by way of establishing programs and low interest loans for fashion entrepreneurs.
Such promises included, low interest loans made available to fashion entrepreneurs by Sterling Bank. Aside from funding, other issues discussed were manufacturing, e-commerce, technology, the fashion value chain and luxury.
Other speakers at the series included Tunde Kehinde (MD ACE.ng), Toyosi Kolawole (MD Audeo Clothing), Reni Folawiyo (MD Alara), Andrea Iyamah (Founder/MD Andrea Iyamah Swimwear), Mobola Oniboboje (Alithea Capital), Tope Edu (MD Zegna Nigeria), Deola Sagoe, Mai Atafo, Commissioner of Commerce Osun State and so much more.
The theme of the fashion business series was that it would take hard work and effort to uphold the fashion industry. Nike Ogunlesi founder/CRO of Ruff ‘n’ Tumble stated that ‘there is no other way to progress fashion than to treat it as a business’.
