This is definitely a new one because we do not have as many shoe lines as we have for clothes.

OAP, broadcaster and show host, Gbemi Olateru has launched her eponymous shoe line, Gbémisókè, Which is aimed at ladies with plus sized feet.

With the launch of her eponymous shoe line, Gbemi has become the first Nigerian on-air personality to have her own shoe line.

This must come as a huge relief for the female folk, since there has been a lot of cases in recent times when finding a shoe your size has become more of a priority than finding a pretty shoe.

The shoe loving host of Beat FM’s Drive Time Show revealed that the new line came about as a result of her own challenges with finding shoes in the right size locally and abroad.

“It’s quite tough for women like me who wear UK size 9 and up, to find nice shoes. Most stores don’t carry such big sizes, and when they do, they sell out quickly. After complaining for years, I decided to create a line to make life easier for women like me who have bigger feet.”

The women’s shoe line consisting of flats, pumps, and mules from size 42 (US 11) and up and the first style, pointed flats in a mock croc finish, are available on online stores Jumia and Konga.

The range is priced between N7000 and N9000.

The aim is to merge comfort and style for women who have bigger feet.

“I meet women every time who have the same challenges, and I was surprised to realize no one was really doing anything about it.” she said.

In a Facebook post Gbemi, shared that Gbémisókè means ‘Lift me up’ in her native Yoruba language. “When a woman has good shoes on, a nice and comfortable pair, she’s confident, sure of herself. She on top of the world.”
