Award winning noveist, Chimamanda Adichie, Author of Purple hibiscus and Americanah, Shares her fashion secret.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie published her first novel, Purple Hibiscus, at the age of 26.It was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction and won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. Some books that followed shortly after include, Half of a Yellow Sun - set during the Biafran conflict in Nigeria, a decade before she was born – and Americanah, a modern love story set between America and Nigeria. All these have also been garlanded with international prizes and critical praise.

Her unique sense of fashion goes a long way to further establish her as a woman of fashion. When asked, " she says, "I do all these drawings for my clothes. Really terrible drawings, But I love to do them, and he gave me the crayons so I could add a little bit of colour." Who would have thought? She always looks good and comfortable in anything she wears. It’s obvious that Adichie is comfortable and sees no contradiction between being a woman of fashion and a feminist. All the clothes she is seen putting on, (view in gallery) are designed by her; she works with local tailors to have her designs brought to life.

On the whole, we can say she is a novelist, fashion designer, feminist and family woman, all rolled into one. Who can beat that? All these put together makes her the strong woman, she is today.
