The star, who is using the #NoMakeup movement to promote the concept of women loving their natural beauty said she is often insecure about her appearance, even noting that she was terrified when she and her creative team decided to release promotional images last spring of herself stripped down, bare-faced, with an apprehensive smile.

In the exclusive interview, the 15-time Grammy award winner, shares updates on her upcoming and highly anticipated album. In addition to giving insight into her career moves, she also talks about some trending controversial topics, including raising Black boys in the era of #BlackLivesMatter. She also talks about self-confidence and the cruelty of social media.

Alicia also details that her untitled sixth studio album is still scheduled to be released this fall, but has been delayed a bit, likely due to her new coaching position on NBC’s The Voice.
