The Fashion Week opened to an excited crowd at the iconic venue tying in the theme ‘Celebrating the Vibrant Pulse of Africa' nicely with carefully curated artsy bits and performances giving the fashion week the trad, custom/culture embracing event it's fast growing to be.
For day one, the showcases went from new comers to fast rising to established brands collaborating with Da Viva and ABC and Swarovski to present African laced pieces infusing each into carefully thought through pieces.
Mmakamba who easily stood apart with a chic showcase of flirty meets artsy meets effortless pieces won the night with a collection of chic pieces that rocked the runway.
Taking on dense fits, Adire in modern styles, playful tassels, peek-a-boo sheer details, embellishment and more with frayed kimono, shifts, print shirts paired with skirts, belted wraps, low cut onesies, midi dresses and more brilliant pieces with bold prints lit up the runway.
The newcomer's effortless interpretation is one to look out for. See a recap of her show in the gallery below.
