Pastor Enoch Adeboye Clocks 72

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has been described as one of the strongest pillars of Nigeria whose prayers have been able to hold Nigeria together.

The extremely humble man of God clocked 72years of age yesterday, 2nd of March, 2014, and in his message to congratulate the international preacher, PresidentGoodluckJonathan said that PastorAdeboye has continued to pray for Nigeria’s unity and that with people like him praying for the country, Nigeria will continue to remain one indivisible country.

Born in Ifewara, OsunState, Nigeria, PastorAdeboye, who is fondly called DaddyGO by his teeming followers, is a Professor of Mathematics with a PhD in AppliedMathematics from the UniversityofLagos. He was a Mathematics lecturer in Mathematics at the UniversitiesofLagos and Ilorin and after joining the RCCG, he began working to translate the sermons of its then Pastor and founder, Rev. JosiahOlufemiAkindayomi, from Yoruba into English.

In 1981, PastorAdeboye was appointed GeneralOverseer of the church, taking over from PapaAkindayomi, who had died the previous year.

The church, which was not well known before Pastor Adeboye took charge, now has branches in over a hundred countries, including more than 20,000 in Nigeria, with PastorAdeboye’s aim of planting a church within five minutes of every person on Earth.

Pastor Adeboye is married to Pastor Foluke Adenike Adeboye and they have four grown children who are all successful in their different fields of endeavor.
