At Taste of Naija, one of the events at the ongoing Ingressive and 500 Startups-organised Lagos leg of the Geeks On A Plane Lagos tour, Geeks and guests alike were taught some important Jollof Rice skills at the Culinary Academy, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The event held across the two floors of the Academy — the cooking training on the upper floor and some networking and ecosystem discussions on the lower floor. After about 35 minutes, geeks from the upper floor and geeks on the lower floor switched sides to make the experience more rounded.
One of the geeks that showed real prowess at the Jollof Rice preparation was David Troy, CEO and Founder of 410Labs - one of the geeks on the trip. 500 Startups founder Dave McClure also tried his hands at making Jollof Rice.
Subsequently, appetizers came through in the form of chicken peppersoup, followed by the main course — the great Jollof Rice, and then Puff Puff with some interesting ‘Zobo’ sauce closing out lunch.
Tope Folayan, Co-founder and Co-CEO at Mall For Africa gave a quick presentation on the dynamics of starting a business in Nigeria and answered investor questions about the time frame to integrate into a unique market like Nigeria’s.
Iyinoluwa Aboyeji of Andela and Flutterwave as well as Shola Akinlade of Paystack was present.
