Lagos AIDS Walk

The core aim of the walk is to increase the population’s awareness of existing laws such as the HIV/AIDS Anti-Stigma Bill which was passed in 1997 to protect people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) from discrimination and stigmatization.

 

Advocating for increased political will and corporate support for HIV prevention, treatment, care and support; to raise funds for Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) campaigns; and to progress towards international goals of universal access to HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) services

Biire is an indigenous community based organization (CBO) established in 2006 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC No.39245) in response to the fight against HIV & AIDS with particular focus on Prevention of Mother to Child transmission (PMTCT).

The word, Biire translates literally to ‘Safe Birth’ or more applicable ‘Bundle of joy’ and the aim of this CBO is to use prevention of mother to child transmission as an entry point to HIV & AIDS prevention, care and support amongst women of child bearing age including their partners using a family centred approach.
