The competing artists were expected to use their art to capture the journey of the nation's growth and each of the 12 finalists did; in their own unique way. The event which is held annually is sponsored by Nigerian Breweries and put together by the African Artists Foundation (AAF).
Artists Tell The Nigerian Story
The fourth edition of the Nigerian Breweries National Art competition was held at the Civic Centre Ozumba Mbadiwe. The theme of this year’s competition was “Documenting Changes in our Nation”.

The 12 finalists displayed their works in an exhibition that allowed the crowd and judges view their work based on its relevance to the theme, aesthetics and over all look. Each finalist was given a certificate of participation; presented by award winning author, Chimamanda Adiche.
The winners were picked with Mr. Olayinka Sangotoye in third place, going home with the 1million naira cash prize. Second place was Mr. Gerald Chukwuma and he went home with the sum of N1.5million naira.
The artist who went home with the grand prize of two million naira was the duo of Mr. Uche Uzorka and Chike Obeagu. The event was hosted by AAF’s very own Zainab Ashadu and the national anthem taken by Stacey and Prince Eji.
