A Private Auction and Exhibition was attended by friends and patrons of eminent photographer/filmmaker Mr. Akin Kongi On Sunday 3 July 2016.
He was invited to be the Artist in Residence at Mìlíkì for 3 months (1 June -31 August 2016) – the first of its kind. His work will be displayed for his guests and the patrons of Mìlíkì.
The Private Auction and Exhibition was attended by his friends and patrons of Mìlíkì from all works for life – whom were all gathered together with a singular passion for Art and Photography. This made for an interesting and exciting evening as Mr. Kongi shared his inspiration for his collection and the idea behind his pictures.
The unveiling of his much anticipated Makoko collection took place soon after guests had appreciated his previous display. It was obvious how fascinated his guests were with his latest display, which depicted the true ambience of Makoko. Part of his extensive collection on Makoko is the well-known Floating School – which unfortunately recently collapsed, making this piece a well cherished photograph by Mr. Kongi and all his guests in attendance. He further shared his inspiration and the adventure behind his Makoko collection.
It was no surprise that a few of his pieces exhibited at Mìlíkì had been sold out by the end of the evening. His Makoko collection remains exhibited at Mìlíkì for the next three weeks before his next awaited collection is unveiled.
