Akam Contemporary photography is set to hold a photo exhibition on the 9th and 10th of December, 2016 at Madugu Rockview Hotel, Yola, Adamawa State.

The exhibition themed "Refugee’s Prayer"  will showcase gripping images of the internally displaced persons from their smiles, pain, and resilience. This exhibition will serve to curate the story of the internally displaced for historical purpose, showcase the strength and restore the trust in humanity.

This exhibition aims to spotlight on the victims of Boko Haram insurgency that ravaged Northeast Nigeria. More importantly, this is a charity event of which the proceeds would be donated to cover medial bills of those without means to pay.

The exhibition will feature brief speeches by various international aid organizations and respective local organizations to appreciate their undying support to ease the pains of the refugee.

The Federal Medical Center Yola has been selected as a support-target. It is strictly a non-profit event.

The event is a joint project of Akam Contemporary, Team Bindow Initiative, and Pulse Nigeria.

The exhibition promises to:

  • Showcase visual arts, donor agencies, and local talents to celebrate the dignity of humanity in spite of tough conditions.

  • Document, for history, the refugee crisis that ravaged Adamawa State during the heat of insurgency between 2013 and 2015.

  • Demystify the perception of Adamawa State, surrounded by beautiful hills and cascading landscapes, and Northern Nigeria as a high-risk zone.

  • Show to the world the true meaning of the African pride.

  •  Benchmark the “Land of Beauty” as a tourist attraction through the celebration of arts and culture

Date: December 9-10

Time: 4pm

Venue: Madugu Rockview Hotel, Yola Adamawa State
