Popular cosmetics brand, Lime Crime is in trouble with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for using 'potentially unsafe ingredients' in their red velvet lipstick from the Velvetines collection.

News breaking reveals Indie color cosmetics company Lime Crime known for its wild, nontraditional lip colors that fast became a beauty enthusiast priced possession is in trouble as the brand has been served a warning for listing unsafe ingredients in their products.

In a letter- read it here- sent to the brand the raved Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick stands out as unsafe because the labels say that these lip products contain Ferric Ferrocyanide and Ultramarines, both colouring agents that is unsafe for ingestion.

The FDA stated that the lipstick comes in contact with the mucous membranes of the mouth making it possible for the ingredients to be absorbed which can cause serious irritations.

It was revealed that FDA only approved both colouring agents (ferric ferrocyanide and ultramarines) for use in "externally applied cosmetics," and that designation doesn't include lipstick.

The Velvetines, one of the most popular line from the line are liquid-to-matte lipsticks that are touch and smudge-proof.

The brand, found in 2008 by former musician and fashion designer Kseniya Vorotova (aka Doe Deere) was created to fill a hole in the market for colorful cosmetics.
