Don't we all want the perfect body, and with very little or no effort too? Unfortunately, nothing good comes easy and so out goes the delicious desserts and other such calorie rich foods once we feel those extra pounds creeping in.

But, while all the seemingly interesting foods are off limit in the quest to the perfect body, there are a still other interesting options which offer satisfaction while getting the job done.

Here are 5 great foods to take while on a weight loss journey.


  • Salmons: The highly tasty salmon is a great fish option for those on a weight loss journey. Salmon is rich in protein, healthy fat, iodine and omega-3 fatty acids. Iodine helps with proper functioning of the thyroid which helps boost body metabolism. Omega-3 fatty acid also helps reduce inflammation which can be a major culprit for obesity.

  • Chicken: Due to its high protein content, chicken is an ideal choice as it is rich in protein which studies show cuts down cravings by a significant percentage. It also reduces desire for late-night snacking by half all of which contributes to a significant amount of weight in the long run.

  • Boiled potatoes: Also rich in potassium, boiled potatoes can be filling, cutting down cravings significantly. Also boiled potatoes when allowed to cool down form large amounts of resistant starch which has immense health benefits.

  • Beans: No surprises here, beans are rich in protein and fibre making it a highly filling meal, it also develops resistant starch like potatoes.

  • Avocado: This makes a perfect snack or a meal on its own. They're loaded in healthy fat and a lot of water which makes the fat not prone to be retained by the body. It's also rich in fibre and potassium which is great for body metabolism.
