Filing your nails

The essence of filling your nails is to give it shape and to prevent split and broken ends or even rough edges. It is also one of the best and most important parts of caring for your nails. To achieve properly filed nails you must first do the following and then we will reveal the secret to filing correctly!

First throw away your metal nail file. It’s harsh for your nails and only does more harm than good. Invest in a smooth fine grain file. It’s highly effective and definitely best for the job!

Ok! Now to the secret part

Step 1- Wash your hands thoroughly to remove dirt from underneath your nails. Then make sure you dry your hands properly so as to avoid them being brittle when filing.

Step 2- Decide on the shape you want (we will discuss more on this is another post) whether it be square, oval, squoval, round or almond. It’s mostly said that your nail shape is a reflection of your personality. True or false?

Step 3- To file, begin from the outer part of your nail moving to the centre of your nail. Make sure you file from each side and not back and forth i.e. you’re filing in one directly because filing back and forth rather than in one direction will break and damage your nails. As you file be sure you are getting your desired shape but do not put too much pressure on your nail so as not to damage them.

Step 4- Now that you have filed your nails to your desired shape and the right way why not go bold with your nail polish. Be sure to show them off. Now you know to file your nails without damaging them. What’s your ideal nail shape? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
