Why gel moisturisers are a better alternative

Here are three ways you can and should use gels this period, and yes gel moisturizers are awesome to use.

Rising temperatures can mean only two things.

Outdoor partying and our skin is about to freak out.

The heat situations are driving people nuts and whatever relief that can be gained is always useful.

Which is why a call for a change in your skin-care routine is needed, and that may be where gels come in.

Here are three ways you can and should use gels this period, and yes, gel moisturizers are awesome to use.

1. As a gateway moisturizer:

If you have oily skin, “you can still be parched,” explains Doris Day, a dermatologist in New York City. A gel moisturizer sinks in quickly without adding shine.

Use it twice a day, in the morning and evening, after cleansing.

2. As a hydration booster:

Around age 35, your skin’s natural moisture barrier starts to weaken, just a little something to look forward to. “Gel moisturizers that list dimethicone in the top three ingredients prevent water from evaporating from the skin,” says cosmetic chemist Joseph CincottaFirst Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Oil-Free Gel builds up the skin’s moisture barrier, plus it works as an anti-ager.

3. As a treatment for sensitive skin:

Gels can turn sensitive skin into dewy skin. Chill one in the refrigerator and it’ll quickly calm redness. Try keeping your tube of gel moisturiser in the fridge. The light-as-water gel will feel cool and contains potent hydrators.
