Officials seize Russian plane full of weapons

The plane was impounded on Saturday, December 6, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport and was reportedly heading to Ndjamena, the capital of Chad from Bangui in the Central African Republic.

Security officials in Nigeria have seized a Russian cargo plane which was found to be filled with arms and ammunition.

The plane was impounded on Saturday, December 6, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport and was reportedly heading to Ndjamena, the capital of Chad from Bangui in the Central African Republic.

The plane, with 7 crew members onboard, stopped to refuel and upon inspection by security agents on ground, it was discovered to be carrying various weapons of war, helicopter parts and 2 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV)

The seizure of the plane has been confirmed by the General Manager of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Yakubu Datti and investigations are currently ongoing into the incident.
