The Cross River State Police have arrested a middle-aged mother of five, Udoaka Sunday, for allegedly collecting money from men, including a 78-year-old retired soldier, Effiom Okon, to sleep with her 12-year-old daughter.

Vanguard reports that Sunday had been in the habit of taking money from the men to have sex with the victim who is her first child and at the last count, five men had slept with the girl.

A neighbour of the suspect narrated how Sunday traded her daughter for money.

“That woman is really insane; she is the biological mother of the girl. She collected N15,000 from the old soldier and other petty cash from four other men. Whenever she sends her out to hawk Zobo, Fufu, and other items, she also reminds her not to fail to visit old soldier and the other clients.

She has been doing this for long and mostly with elderly men, who are above 50 and mostly those receiving a pension because that is how she ensures that money keeps coming,” the neighbour said.

The incident was brought to the notice of the police after the girl reported the matter to her teacher in school, who, after verifying the information, went to a child rights foundation that blew the whistle and had Udoaka arrested.

A police source who confirmed the arrest of Sunday said she was a bad example of everything a mother should not be, adding that the five children she had were for different men.

“The woman is a bad case. She is everything a mother should not be. She is currently nursing a baby and the father of that child has not even visited since her arrest," the police source said.
