Policewoman, thugs arrested for beating ex-husband to death

A policewoman who organized for her husband to be beaten to death has been arrested.

The Nigerian police needs to take this case very serious

A female police officer serving with the Ugwashi Ukwu Police Division of  the Delta State Police Command, identified as Helen, has been arrested along with three thugs, for allegedly beating her ex-husband to death.

Helen, according to the police, was married to the deceased whose name was given as Kelechi, for some years before they parted ways due to some disagreement but it seemed she had gotten over the separation and had been nursing her revenge for years till she organized the boys to attack the man, a fellow police officer but serving in another state, when he went to the town to supervise his building project.

While entertaining old friends at a drinking joint in Umokwe, Ugwashi Uku, he saw one of his children and not knowing that death was lurking in the corner, he followed the boy to the house where his former wife lives with his children.

But on getting to the house, the bitter woman ordered him to leave or she would unleash terror on him but not taking her serious, Kelechi refused to leave and she raised an alarm, screaming that the man was a kidnapper.

Following the alarm, some occupants of the house including some thugs descended on the man, beating him mercilessly. One of them brought out a hammer and hit the man on the head and he slumped and died.

Confirming the arrest of Helen, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu, said the woman and the other attackers has been arrested and investigation had been intensified to unravel the circumstances that led to Kelechi's death.
