70-yr-old woman slaughtered in Edo

A 70-year-old woman has been murdered in Edo State in mysterious circumstances.

A bloody kitchen knife

It was gathered that the woman, identified as Betsy Egbeobamwonyi, was found dead in her room with her throat sliced, after she had been stabbed severally. The woman's body was found beside her four-year-old grandson on her bed.

One of the deceased’s daughters who gave her name as Dorothy, said the family was still in shock over the killing as no one could fathom the rationale behind the gruesome murder of the old woman.

“We don’t know who killed our mother. We don’t know who she offended. She is the landlady of the house. The day before she was killed, I bought things for her only to be told that she was killed the next day,” Dorothy said.
