Beyonce Defeats Kim Kardashian As Most-Searched Person In 2013

Beyonce may be covered up in clothing all the time but she is now the Most Searched for Person on the web according to Bing, the online search engine. She obviously kicks out the well exposed Kim Kardashian who came in second this year compared to her first place in 2012 and 2010.

Beyonce, 32, took the lead this year when she made a carefully choreographed return to music after taking time off to be a mom to her daughter Blue Ivy, with husband Jay Z. The singer topped her popularity by performing at President Barack Obama’s inauguration in January, at the Super Bowl in February and then, took off with a worldwide tour – The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour – in April before shocking the world with her first ever HBO Documentary to reveal some parts of her private life with her family.

Queen Bey reserved her title but ousted the popular Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian from the throne despite her famous lustful near-naked selfie, engagement to rapper Kanye West and birth to her own daughter, North West in June.

The women continued to run the world of popularity for the second year running as singers Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Madonna join Beyonce and Kim to round off the top five list. Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber came in sixth dropping from second place last year while rapper Nicki Minaj and pop singer Miley Cyrus showed up in the top 10.Unsurprisingly, troubled actress Amanda Bynes grabbed the 8 spot.

President Barack Obama cracked the list at No. 10 as the only politician in the top 10 apparently better than his 46 position last year. However, pop culture continues to lead web searches, according to Bing. The search engine annually releases list of its most-searched terms and phrases, breaking it down to cut across topics like sports, technology, entertainment and news.

The birth of Prince William's and Kate Middleton's first child in July topped the most searched news stories of 2013, followed by the Boston Marathon bombings in April. Facebook led the most-searched social media sites, while online video streaming site Netflix topped the most-searched streaming sites. Former Denver Broncos football quarterback Tim Tebow was the most-searched sports person, while the Dallas Cowboys topped the most-searched sports team.
