A Lagos taxi driver has been arrested after a woman he contracted for sex died in his house.
The driver known simply as Utebor is in the cells of the state Police Command after he was arrested for her death at his Baruwa Estate in Ipaja area of the state.
It was gathered that Utebor had picked up the lady on Friday, May 15, 2015, close to his Estate and after negotiating the price, went back to his apartment for sex but she died in the process.
A police source reports that it was during the marathon sex bout that the apparently exhausted lady slumped and died and a neighbour of the driver alerted the police from the Ipaja division, and he was arrested while the victim’s corpse was deposited in a mortuary just as no one has come out to claim the corpse, neither does anyone know the deceased name or address.
The source said:
"The driver was driving his cab that fateful day when the lady flagged him down. She asked him for money, but he told her he didn’t have any money on him. He then asked her to enter the car and follow him home.
He took her to his apartment in Baruwa Estate and it was that night that the girl died. Investigation showed that it was while he was making love to her that she died. It was the following morning that somebody alerted the police."
But the suspect, during interrogation, denied having sex with the lady, as he was only helping her. He allegedly told the police that he had picked the victim from the bus stop and taken her home when she suddenly died.
Another police source:
"The man did not deny taking the girl home. But he explained that while she was in his room, she started shouting that she had a headache, and before he knew what was going on, she fell down and died.
He said he was confused and didn’t know what to do. But obviously, that may not be all the truth."
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident, stating that the matter has been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, for proper investigation.
"We have arrested the man. As I speak with you, the matter is under investigation at the DCI, to know what actually killed the lady. The deceased’s name and address are unknown."
