Covenant University student dies following swimming accident

A slow medical response contributed to the death of the deceased who was initially resuscitated by his friends.

The deceased, Segun Michaels.

His friends came to the rescue after noticing that the 500 level student who was studying Building Technology had remained too long in the water.

Their attempt to resuscitate him started off well after successfully getting a pulse, but the slow response of the school's medical services proved to be a setback.

After getting help from a university lecturer who drove him to the medical center located in the institution, non availability of tools such as oxygen and a defibrillator ensured that any hope of resuscitating him remain limited.
