UK-based Nigerian news portal writes President on his failing health

A Nigerian news portal based in the United Kingdom has written a solidarity letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over his health.

President Muhammadu Buhari

The media platform, in the letter released on the morning of Friday, August 11, 2017, hailed the President for fighting corruption and insurgency even on his sick bed.

The paper specially acknowledged the president for his fight against corruption and terrorism, which were in the past eating deep into the system.

The letter signed by the Editor-in-Chief, Jessica Angula, said the news portal is joining other well-meaning Nigerians who have been praying for the quick recovery of the president.

The letter reads in full:

"Your Excellency Sir, we are gladdened to extend to you heartfelt and fraternal greetings from THE NIGERIAN, a London-based online news platform, structured on the African heritage and wholly committed/devoted to the propagation of African ideals.

We are motivated and indeed, honoured by this rare privilege to send you the seasonal greetings as the leader of Nigeria and father of Nigeria’s rebirth, but most profoundly, we are excited by the unique platform it has  raised for us to join millions of Nigerians to especially wish you very speedy healing and recuperation from your ill-health in the name of Allah.

THE NIGERIAN, its teeming fans and well-wishers, are pleased to identify and associate with Your Excellency at this trying period of our national history, at a time, Nigeria has been overstretched by multiple and daunting challenges.

We are most pleased with your desire and efforts to right the wrongs of the past and reposition Nigeria on the path of peace, progress, and prosperity, but saddened in same depth by your medical indisposition that has slowed the pace.

But THE NIGERIAN as a mirror of our society can authoritatively confirm proudly,  the changed positive image and perception of our country by the citizenry and the international community, necessitated by your uncompromising posture of integrity and transparency your leadership has instilled in public governance.

We are equally impressed with the manner your courageous and selfless Service Chiefs have continued to execute your order to end terrorism in Nigeria, through the ongoing counter-insurgency war, particularly in Nigeria’s Northeast, in your absence.

Nigerians stand in strong revulsion with you against the barbarism and murderous instincts of terrorists on Nigerian people.

We hereby wish to identify with you, your entire family and the good people of our dear country, Nigeria.

May you be assured that the good people of Nigeria have many reasons to support you and would be happy upon your return back to the country hale and hearty.

We are optimistic that the desire of millions of Nigerians to have you back, which has been routed through Almighty God by prayers, would surely be granted.

Nigerians are proud of you and will continue to pray the Almighty God for your quick recovery to return back home to steer the ship of state of our beloved nation to the promise land."

President Buhari left Nigeria for London in May for medical treatment and has been there for over three months now and despite assurances by the Presidency on his health, no one seems to know when he will come back to the country or his state of health.
