Transgender woman jailed in men's prison attempts suicide
The inmate living as a woman at the men’s prison is reported to have almost lost her life after she slashed herself with a razor blade.
Daily Mail reports that the staff at the facility had spotted her injuries through a spyhole in her cell door at HMP Littlehey, Cambs.
A nurse at the facility fought to stop the “huge” blood loss at the scene.
A source reveals to Sunday People:
“She must have been desperate. It was horrible.“
She’d had hormone therapy and developed breasts but she had not had surgery to transform her genitals.”
The reports further reveal that two other transgender inmates are reported to have committed suicide last year after being jailed in all-male prison facilities to serve their time.
According to The Ministry of Justice who confirmed that a Littlehey inmate was treated at a hospital, they also disclosed that the inmate has been returned to the prison.
