NIS includes pregnancy as a disability for recruitment
The Nigerian Immigration Service has included pregnancy as a disability for their upcoming recruitment.
According to a newspaper publication advertisement by the agency announcing the vacancies, interested applicants with disabilities such as gross malnutrition of teeth, knocked knees or what is generally known as K-leg, bow legs, limb legs, hunched back, obesity and pregnancy, among others, need not apply for the jobs as they will not be considered.
The advert has made Nigerians come for the service by questioning when pregnancy was considered a disability and why it should be included as a hindrance to getting employed by the service.
Recall that on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at least 13 job seekers died at the Abuja National Stadium while hundreds were injured during a scramble to secure seats for a recruitment test into the Nigerian Immigration Service, while officials of the service including the then Minister of Interior, Abba Moro were said to have fraudulently pocketed N676 million from applicants.
