Despite being one of the most expensive highbrow areas in Lagos, Lekki Peninsula is prone to flooding anytime it rains.
That was before the coming of the likes of Banana Island. But then, Lekki is still the playground of big boys ranging from actors, musicians, footballers, politicians, expatriates and top businessmen.
But what the residents won't tell is that whenever it rains, the area becomes an eyesore, flooded and waterlogged, so much that even those beautiful houses are flooded. The after effect of such flood come with the traffic gridlock that hold the whole of the Lagos Island to ransom, extending as far as Ikoyi and Victoria Island.
Such was the fate of residents and the hordes of people who have their offices or do one form of business in Lekki today, when the heavens opened up and let flow its torrents of showers.
The Peninsula become flooded and everyone was help captive.
What many do not know is that Lekki is sorrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to its south, the Lagos Lagoon to the north, and Lekki Lagoon to its east, and it is natural that the place gets flooded even after a two-minutes rainfall.
