These days, technology has made everything possible, to the extent that the ruler an Ewe Kingdom in Ghana, King Togbe Ngoryifia Céphas Kosi Bansah , has been comfortably running the affairs of his land via the social media outlet, Skype, while living in Germany.
African ruler oversees kingdom via Skype
A Ghanaian King has proven that one can actually take charge of his kingdom from anywhere in the world vie the Internet.
According to Ghanaian authoritative online magazine, OMG Ghana, the 66-year-old king of the Hohoe traditional area moved to Germany while on an exchange programme as a student but decided to stay back after falling in love with a Ghanaian woman, Gabrielle, who is now his wife.
King Basah who was crowned in 1987 after his grandfather, the then king died, went back to stay with his family but still monitors affairs in his kingdom, holding court, receiving visitors and taking important decisions via the Internet.
Despite living in Germany where he runs a garage, King Basah still governs the 200,000 Hohoe people through Skype and telephone calls, often staying up late into the night to rule on tribal disputes.
This has turned him into a minor local celebrity, appearing regularly on TV and local events and has also campaigned on behalf of his country, helping them secure medical aid in the form of 22 doctors in the areas hospital, and regularly sending over equipment for water purification.
