A 38-year-old auto mechanic, Semiu Abiodun, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Karu, a suburb of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for defrauding a client, Gregg Ikiachele, of the sum of N420,000, as well as vandalising the man's vehicle.

The prosecutor in the case, Francis Udofia, told the court that Abiodun was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on on criminal breach of trust, cheating and mischief.

Udofia added that Ikiachele reported the case at the Karu Police Station on June 18, 2015, saying that he gave the accused N390,000 to procure a new engine for his car and another N30,000 for sundry expenses, but instead of fixing the car according to the agreement he with his client, Abiodun vandalised the car and converted the said money for his personal use.

The accused pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him and the president of the court, Magistrate Bashir Alkali granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 and adjourned the matter till August 3, for further hearing.
