As of today April 29, more than five major companies have withdrawn their endorsement deals with the Los Angeles Clippers NBA team after their owner Donald Sterling allegedly insulted black people in a recorded audio call to ex girlfriend, V. Stiviano over the weekend.
Kia, Virgin America, LoanMart Halt Sponsorship To L.A Clippers Amidst Racism Saga
The list of companies backing out endorsement with the team keeps increasing, why is Donald Sterling not fired?
Amtrak and LoanMart are joining Kia Motors, Virgin America, CarMax and State Farm in pulling the plug on their sponsorship of the Clippers.
Representatives of all companies have confirmed they are "suspending our advertising and sponsorship activations with Clippers." Meanwhile others like Amtrak say the company’s sponsorship expired at the end of the regular season and they are now working to remove ALL advertising asserts from the market in the wake of the sterling audio.
All companies agree that "The comments allegedly made by Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, are offensive and reprehensible, and they are inconsistent with our views and values."
Others mentioned that "the language used by Sterling is unacceptable and is inconsistent with our corporate belief to treat everyone with integrity and dignity."
All companies say as fans of the game of basketball, "our support of the players and the sport is unwavering and will continue to keep an eye" on the latest happening within the team to determine their 2014-15 sports marketing sponsorships.
Guys is this a fair?
