For duping his late friend, a man has been sent to prison

Dayo Akala, a 46-year-old man who thought he could steal from his late friend, Samuel Obiora, has found himself in soup after he was arrested and charged before an Isolo Magistrates' Court sitting in Lagos, reports Punch.

It was gathered that Akala and Obioro lived at the same residence at 96, Adeshina street, Ijeshatedo area of the state and they had gone into a joint business where Obiora gave him money to purchase for cars for him - two Toyota Camry, a Toyota  Sequoia and a Sienna bus - but shortly after that, Obiora died in mysterious circumstances and instead of Akala to hand over the vehicles to the deceased wife, he procured some fake documents and sold them off.

Little did he know that the late Obiora had told his wife about the transactions and gave her the original documents of the cars.

When the woman asked him, Akala denied the existence of such business deal, prompting the woman to report the case at the Ijeshatedo Police Division and he was promptly arrested.

Consequently, he was charged to court with three count charge of obtaining under false pretence, forgery and criminal conversion under the Criminal Code.

When the charges were read to him, Akala pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Adedayo granted him bail in the sum of N1 million while he was ordered to be remanded in prison till the next adjourned date of December 16, 2015.
