Punch reports that the accused who lives in Saidatu Street, Oregun in Ikeja area of the state, had sneaked into the room of his landlady while she slept and had knowledge of her without her consent.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that Awogbemi who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and rape, committed the offence October 9, 2016, at about 9:00 pm.
Inspector Ayorinde said that on the said date, the landlady was invited by one Sarah Emmanuel to her room for a drink after which she went to her room and slept off.
“After the drink, the complainant went back to her room, feeling intoxicated and slept off immediately without locking her door.
In the morning, the landlady discovered that she had been raped by her tenant along with others still at large.
The complainant resulted to shouting and cursing that whoever raped her will become swollen and die.”
When the charges were read to Awogbemi, he pleaded not guilty and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Omolade Awope, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum, while adjourning the case till December 27 for hearing.
