Sossick - Producer Extraordinaire!

Sossick is a known name, producer extraordinaire who has worked with various known artists. The owner of Classick Tunes, the young producer finished from Yaba tech, where he started pursuing music professionally. Maheeda, singer of the popular ‘Okoyampia’ is one of the artists under his belt. Pulse was able to get a little time to talk with him. His production outfit, Classick Tunes started off as a production outfit but now has matured to a full blown record label with clients and artist under it.

Music has always been his passion as he started way back, since school but professionally, it started about ten years ago; producing and singing on a few songs. His first major break was in 2005, with Gino’s ‘No be God’ and between then and now, it’s been steadily building up. Over the years, he has worked with Dagrin, YQ, Naeto C, Shank, MI and a host of others but he has a track of his own called ‘Jo oh’.

He recently stated his intention to go into singing and stated his reason as the need to express himself, in his own words, ‘just putting my thoughts on CD’s basically. No one can say what you think or are feeling better than you. So even as a producer I can make music but sometimes you want to share one or two things; the desire to communicate with my audience’. On challenges he faces in his line of work, he states ‘Power!!’ Having to work with a generator reduces profit greatly and spoils equipment.

Maheeda (real name Caroline Sam) from Edo state is one of the artist under his label.  Music started for her, professionally, six years ago with five to six singles to show. Her  latest single, ‘Okoyampia’, is actually a derivation from Yoruba, ‘Oko ya pa’. It was the single that launched her into stardom.Working with upcoming artists has been good, especially when the artists are talented and level headed, you can’t really ask for much more.

Family has been a great pillar of support. ‘They are really proud. You know I come from a family of entertainers, Owen Gee, Gino and myself’. It is due to the support of his family and his fans that he can comfortably walk into the future as he hopes to take his craft beyond the shores of this country. ‘That has always been the plan and it’s not impossible. We will do this’.
