A man, Marcel Abah and his wife, Jacinta, were discovered murdered in their sleep with their throats slit by unidentified persons in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, the state Police Command reports.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, the incident occurred at Amaja community located on the border between Enugu and Benue States, when the couple had retired to bed only for the assailants to attack them and murder them as they slept.

In a statement signed by Amaraizu, the killers allegedly stormed the house of the victims at about 2am, and killed them.

“The dead bodies of the couple were discovered by neighbours, who alerted the police later in the morning,” the statement said, adding that the police has begun full investigations to bring the culprits to book, while the bodies of the couple have been deposited in the mortuary at Ogurute General Hospital while the police would carry out an autopsy soon.
