APGA senatorial candidate dies same day name was submitted to INEC

The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has been thrown into mourning after a senatorial candidate of the party died untimely.

The fold of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, and the entire Imo State was thrown into confusion and mourning, when an aspirant for the Orlu senatorial district in the 2015 elections, Eudora Igwe, died the same day her name was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Igwe, a lawyer, was a member of the Imo State House of Assembly representing Ideato North State Constituency and was about upgrading to the Senate as a consensus candidate of the party, when she met her untimely death, in what was seen as mysterious circumstances, with her family suggesting that she must have been poisoned.

An announcement on imostateblog.com, has it that the former chairman of Ideato North local government council, had collapsed in the afternoon of Monday and could not come out the coma before giving up the ghost.

The female politician who was described as brilliant and a goal getter, was said to have succumbed to the cold hands of death after a very brief illness.

The National Chairman of the party, Victor Umeh, confirming her death, expressed his sorrow on the death of the lawmaker, saying that she will be solely missed by the party, the state and the country in general owing to her contributions to politics in the state.

Umeh also said that the late Barrister Igwe was grassroots mobiliser who worked to empower women and youths.

"We have lost a rare gem who impacted positivity into the lives of her people. We pray the almighty God gives her perfect peace and we pray that the family she left behind be comforted with the fact that she lived a good and exemplary life worthy of emulation."

May her soul rest in peace.
