Suspected cult members who went after a young man ended up killing his father when the boy could not be found, reports Tribune.

According to the report, the 40-year-old Mumini Muritala, a father of five, was allegedly beaten to a pulp and then hacked to death after his landlord's sons identified as Yusuf and Habeeb Adegbayi, who had a dispute with his son, brought in the cultists to attack him but unfortunately, the boy was not at home, so they attacked and killed his father.

According to Muritala's tearful widow, Shakirat, told reporters that her son and the Adegbayi boys had earlier had issues and on the night of the incident, the landlord's sons locked the door to the compound earlier than usual and when her husband came back and challenged them, the altercation led to them teaming up with the suspected cultists to beat him to death.

“When my husband and daughter came back home, Yusuf and Habeeb went inside their rooms, but my husband went to them to enquire why they locked the door so quickly.

This resulted in a heated argument and Yusuf slapped my husband, my husband wanted to retaliate, but the two boys pounced on him and beat him black and blue.

They then went out and called the others boys who are cultists and they joined in beating him.

Yusuf was the one that hit him with an occult ring and suddenly, my husband turned around and fell on the ground.

We rushed him to the hospital, but he later gave up.”

According to the Oyo State Police Command, the suspects in the murder of Muritala are still at large while their father, the landlord, has been arrested and is now in police custody.
